helping in the church and out in the community
At Parkside, serving begins and ends with relationships. Whether that means serving inside or outside the church, we want people to know us and know that we care. As the Apostle Paul said, "we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us (1 Thess. 2:8)." An opportunity to serve is also an opportunity to build a relationship that will last. There are a variety of ways to get involved at Parkside on Sundays and helping us serve our community throughout the week.
We post a chalkboard in the back of the sanctuary that lists several ways in which people can volunteer on Sunday. Setup/Teardown, Coffee, Snacks etc. Once you get comfortable worshiping with us for a while, please be encouraged to help out in our active family! You can sign up on the board on Sunday mornings or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Presently, there are two opportunities to help us serve and love our community.
- UPLIFT is a partner ministry with offices in neighboring Golden Hill. For 25 years they have coordinated various programs for kids, teens, seniors and those who are homeless. The Swimming Upstream program is specifically for teen girls who are facing some of the most difficult decisions yet in their lives. A rotation of speakers is coupled with individual mentors to support, challenge and encourage each girl as they mature into womanhood.
- GOD'S EXTENDED HAND is an inter-denominational ministry that serves meals to about 100 people, two times a day most days of the week. Their staff of people who have been homeless in the past can ably prepare and serve the meals. What is most needed is just a willingness to sit down and have a conversation with people who have found themselves isolated in life as a result of any number of circumstances. Please email email@example.com for more information.
