Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Mike studied engineering at Purdue University and worked as a management consultant with Accenture for eight years. After his training at Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, Mike and his wife Mandy moved to San Diego in 2009 with the hope of planting a church with a rich mixture of generations and cultural backgrounds.
Mike and Mandy enjoy camping, hiking and rock climbing with their kids and friends, coaching little league baseball, and a good pick-up game of soccer or basketball. They both enjoy classic literature, compelling biographies, and just about any good story. And they love living in South Park with their four kids: Olivia, Joseph, Greta and Henry, and dog Ridley. Mike is also a chaplain for the San Diego Police Department.
Sara is a San Diego native with an amazing love for teaching kids the truths of the Bible. Our kid's curriculum is designed to take kids through all of God's redemptive history (in other words, the whole Bible) every three years. Sara teaches one of our classes, and coordinates the other two ages as they each study the same Bible story each week at an accessible level for each age. She seems to know of a helpful kids' song for every lesson!
As a kid, Sara grew in faith from teaching from her church and with her siblings from their parents' active teaching. She and husband Chris love teaching their own three little ones, and helping Parkside parents pass on their faith to the next generation.
Mike and his wife Shelby are both San Diego natives and live nearby in South Park/Golden Hill. Mike is one of our interns preparing for pastoral ministry. He teaches our 10-12 year-old class each Sunday and coordinates our community outreach efforts.
Mike is a graduate of Westminster Seminary in Escondido. He enjoys skateboarding, espresso (lots of espresso!), books and finding used bookstores, and exploring and getting to know South Park and its surrounding.
Born in Mexico, David spent the first decade of his life near Cabo San Lucas before moving with his family to Chula Vista. There he met up with Johnny Ciccolella at Harbor Chula Vista. They've been playing together for almost 10 years now - bringing just a hint of latin sound to a rich mix of older hymns and newer songs at Parkside.
